当秋风送来一缕清凉，

告别炎热夏日的同时，

孩子们也告别了暑假。

世界上最远的距离，是放假到开学的距离！

孩子们的笑脸又绽放在校园的每一个角落。

最美的年华，遇见最美的你！

年幼的脸庞，写满对未来的憧憬；

绽放的笑脸，洋溢着爱和幸福！

这是孩子人生的一个新起点，

亲爱的学生、家长、教职员工，

让我们携手同行，

一起谱写爱和幸福的最美华章！

管校长以轻松自豪，却简洁有力的话语，表达了对新学年最真挚的期盼和对教育的无限热忱！更满怀深情地表达了对家长和学生的感谢！对张校长带领天津团队精心而充分的开学准备工作，表示衷心的感谢！同时代表欧阳校长对天津海嘉的顺利开学，表示热烈的祝贺！

天津海嘉要发展成什么样子？简单地说，就是北京海嘉的模样！我们正在付诸行动，把海嘉一步步发展壮大，越办越好！

管校长借用毛主席在井冈山发表的一句话，“星星之火，可以燎原”，表达了对天津海嘉的坚定信心！

他说世界上有两种人：一种人，是看到了才相信；另一种人，是相信了就能看见。在座的家长就是第二种人，是海嘉国际教育坚定的追随者和支持者。

管校长最后用四句话表达了对孩子们的期望：

要做一个读书的人！

要做一个快乐的人！

要做一个会思考的人！

要做一个爱海嘉的人！

I’m so happy and thankful to see all of you here who are dedicated to growing these beautiful seeds.

The beautiful seeds who are your children and will grow up to become mighty plants and trees.

When you look at a seed - and the seed is so small, it’s impossible to recognize it’s capabilities and see what it will become.  And yet, within that seed all the capabilities do exist, for what it will become.

I’ll share with you a little bit about it and what your children will gain.

Your children will be taught important subjects to develop their mind,

And they will also be taught lessons that strengthen and develop their heart - In addition to learning to love China

- they will also be taught how to respect others from different culture

- how to love  people who look different

- how to forgive

- How to love themselves

 they’ll become internationally minded - global citizens who become creative, loving, individuals ready to make great contributions to the world.

Ladies, gentlemen and children, boys and girls, it gives me very great pleasure to welcome you to BIBA Tianjin Campus the second year. Firstly, I want to thank our returning parents. As our founding parents, you placed a lot of trust in us last year. I am so thankful that you have continued to place your faith in us and help support to the community to grow. I see a lot of new faces in the crowd today, and I want to welcome all new families to our Tianjin campus formally. I look forward to meeting everyone individually.  

I would like to echo what my colleagues have said about how unique our students are. At BIBA we provide an education that is unique. Today I want to share with you some of the things that make our school special as well as a new initiative that we are developing this year.

As a bilingual school, we have the chance to take advantage of the best of both eastern and western teaching methodologies. Our Chinese literacy program takes advantage of proven Chinese teaching methods but also takes advantage of western style teaching utilizing such methods like activity-based learning. Our Math program is strong because of the blend of the Chinese and American style of learning.  

At BIBA we look at the whole child. A child’s academic and knowledge is important. We feel that character development is just as important. We anchor all of our learning into the 4Rs; Respect, Rigor, Responsibility, and Relationships. Through our house program, we teach these values to our students. We aim to develop students that have well-developed characters who can face any adversity in life.

We follow the reader’s and writer’s workshop model for literacy. The advantage of the workshop model is that it allows us as teachers to meet all student’s individual needs regardless of their level of learning. Last year we saw significant growth in student’s English reading and writing ability, and this year we aim to continue that through the refinement of our English literacy program.

Finally, I would like to share with you a new initiative that we are developing. We believe that all learning at school should be student-centered. That means understanding each students’ learning needs and setting individual learning goals for each student to achieve. This year we are aiming to create student-led conferences to replace parent-teacher conferences. Instead of the teacher explaining student learning development and progress the student will explain their learning themselves. I hope to share more information about student-led conferences in the coming weeks.

I want to thank everyone again for placing your faith in us. I look forward to working closely with all families as the year progresses.
