英国寄宿学校协会（Boarding School Association，简称BSA）是世界上最大的寄宿学校协会，覆盖全球35个国家。协会代表 600多家私立和公立寄宿学校，其中500多家位于英国。负责寄宿制学校行业规范制定、学校及从业人员的资质认证，参与英国政府相关政策的制定并实施监督。BSA奖项设立是为了表扬学校在寄宿方面的的成就、以及辛勤工作具有奉献精神的学校或个人。
The Boarding Schools’ Association (BSA) is the voice of boarding schools globally. BSA is the major representative body of boarding schools. Founded in 1966 in London, UK, it now has nearly 600 member schools in 35 countries worldwide.

经过激烈的角逐，“年度最佳国际学校”这一奖项最终入围了两所亚洲的学校。常州威雅作为中国地区唯一一所“榜上有名”的国际化学校，能够在2022年度BSA卓越奖的角逐中脱颖而出，全体师生皆感到与有荣焉。我们将化激励为动力，百尺竿头、更进一步。

It was quite an honor that WASCZ has been shortlisted for the Boarding Schools’ Association Awards 2022 in the category ‘Best International School’. As the only one nominated international school within China, we will definitely turn the heat up even more and keep up the good work.

今年是极其不寻常的一年，是考验我们师资实力、应变能力，特别是学校对内管理能力的一年。常州威雅从来就不是一所寻常的学校。
This has been the most unusual of years and one which has tested our resources, resilience, and responsibility towards the welfare of boarders within our schools. In ‘peacetime’, WASCZ is no ordinary school.

12个学院学生，在每学期密集、不间断的12周学校生活中茁壮成长。他们的活动范围被延伸至陆地、水上、空中和互联网。四季流转，一日三餐，我们每天为学生提供约5000份的营养餐食。
With 12 boarding Houses, 5000 meals served each day, 7-day weeks, uninterrupted 12-week terms, and activities extending on land, water, air, and internet, we certainly deliver the full boarding model.

Community
在新冠疫情肆虐的当下，我们在不知不觉中被“偷”走了两年多的时光。常州威雅的外籍老师中有很多因为远渡重洋来到常州教书而多年无法回家团聚。他们从五湖四海而来，在常州威雅相聚。他们勇敢地迎接每一个挑战，坚定地与孩子们建立信任关系，用心守护着岁月的温度。这些都是通过我们老师们的无私奉献实现的。
This has been achieved by the selfless dedication of staff, most of whom have now, because of the global pandemic, been away from their own families and friends for over two years. They have risen to every challenge and been resolute in their dedication to building trusting relationships and supporting the health and vitality of the children in their care.

一所真正优秀的学校应该在面对逆境时，展现出不折不挠、团结一心的力量。在三月份疫情胶着之际，面对发生在即的关闭学校，许多教职员工们为了保障学校内的正常运行，自愿选择 "被困"在校园里，与几百名寄宿生一起经历了被限制自由的日子。因学校寄宿体量趋于饱和，这期间可以留给教职员工的床位有限。三个互不相熟的成年人共挤一屋难免多有不便。但医护人员、厨师、清洁工、教师和行政人员们还是以“学生为中心”，为了给孩子们提供更多的活动和舒适的寄宿环境，将自己的个人得失摆在之后。

A truly outstanding school is one which responds in the face of adversity by demonstrating the strength of their community. At WASCZ, with a hint of ‘lockdown’ approaching, staff volunteered to be ‘trapped’ on campus, to share small study rooms with three other unrelated adults and experienced the restrictions on movement and freedom alongside the 600 boarders, to provide them with a greater variety of activities and prioritise their welfare. Nurses, cooks, cleaners, teachers, and administrators volunteered to exchange their personal space and freedom to support the school community.

乐于进行志愿服务的精神已经牢牢根植于常州威雅全体师生的观念中了，因为这恰恰与我校推崇的五大目标之一：“社区建设”不谋而合。这种在逆境中的突围、人人甘于奉献的精神，展示出我校文化中所包含的人文关怀精神和将学生福祉作为首要理念的宗旨。

The spirit of volunteering is entrenched in the values of WASCZ and the greatest of our stated aims is ‘community’. It is the outward, unforced response in adversity that shows the principles of excellent pastoral care and student wellbeing are truly embedded in school culture.

荣膺这份奖项，我为常州威雅的全体教职员工和学生们感到骄傲，同时希望他们能在2022年与自己的家人好好团聚，并且幸福安康。
