5月21日下午,领科PLC(Professional Learning Community)培训项目年度汇报在艺术楼报告厅举行。
本次项目汇报活动由学校PDQ项目负责人Michael Downes组织和主持。活动分为两部分:第一部分是Michael向所有老师介绍PLC项目以及说明下个学年的PLC任务安排,第二部分是12个小组成员分别进行小组专题总结汇报。
第一部分:什么是PLC项目
为了更好地实现全人教育理念,为学生创建更优质的学习环境和更积极的校园文化,领科PDQ项目负责人Michael老师引入了PLC项目,旨在帮助老师更新教育理念,改进教学方式,提高课堂教学水平,促进领科教师队伍素质整体提升。
那到底什么是PLC呢?
PLC(专业学习共同体)是作为学习者的教师以自愿为前提,以分享、合作为核心,以促进学生学习的愿景为纽带,相互交流和共同学习的一种组织形式,是教师获得可持续专业成长的有效途径,为教师间、师生间的共同进步和发展提供了良好平台,对于促进学校的文化变革和教师工作环境的改善意义深远。
Michael Downes
Michael Downes has been teaching for 13 years in both the U.K and international sectors. He taught for 7 years in the U.K, 5 years in Mexico and now in China at Ulink College of Shanghai.
He had various leadership roles over the course of his careers ,such as Head of Department、Assistant Head and as Head of Professional Learning and Development.
Michael老师对过去实施了一年的PLC项目进行了汇报,他说:
Developing a collaborative culture of trust, support and improvement has been one of the key goals for our school this year. One of the ways that we have achieved this goal is through the PLC. This has involved all members of the academic staff undertaking action research in one of the 6 instructional core topics such as differentiation、strategies for effective feedback、formative assessment、SEN、blended learning and using data effectively to monitor student progress.
The benefits of the PLC are that the status quo is challenged, new methods of teaching and learning are sought, teaching methods are tested and then reflected upon. Members of the PLCs have constantly turned their learning and insights into action, leading to the improvement of teaching across the school.
To improve the process next year we are going to combine the PLCs with the Teaching Walkthrus. Each department across the school will choose one of the following themes – behaviour and relationships, explaining and modeling, questioning and feedback, retrieval and practice, curriculum planning and Mode B teaching. We hope that these changes will result in an even bigger impact on staff and student development next year.
第二部分:小组专题汇报
在活动的第二部分,12个小组分别进行专题汇报。每个小组成员由不同学科组老师组成,组员们结合各自学科特点以小组主题为出发点进行研讨。通过参加一学年的PLC项目,老师们会有什么样的收获呢?
Bryan老师小组的主题是Blended-learning,他说:
This year's PLC activity has been a success. All members of the academic staff undertook actions into one of the 6 instructional core topics assigned (differentiation, effective formative assessment, supporting SEN learners, blended learning, giving meaningful feedback, effectively monitoring student progress). Teachers sought new methods of teaching and learning, tested the methods, and reflected on the results.
In our group, we were assigned to explore Blended Learning and over the past months, we discussed different BL instructional activities, trialed different teaching tools, and looked at the impact of BL on our teaching and student learning. It was hard work but worth the effort to develop a collaborative culture of trust, support, and improvement amongst teachers. The findings of each group were then presented to all staffonMay 21st,with practical recommendations to ensure that best practices are shared across the school.
I couldn't be more proud of my team for their dedication and all the hard work that they put in! I wish next year's PLC activities and participants continued success and is going to be Ulink's best one yet!
经过一年的PLC项目,老师们对全人教育理念有了深入的认识,对自己的教学方式进行了深刻地反思与总结,并且通过与各组组员们的合作交流与探究分享,大家对教师间的关系有了全新的体验,对师生间的关系有了更多的思考。我们希望领科教师通过今年的PLC项目,将所学所得付诸于当前的实践中,并在明年的PLC项目中收获更多教学方法,为领科学子创造一节节精彩纷呈的灵动课堂。
