记上海星河湾双语学校G4甲骨文初探活动，商朝晚期，中国人发明了一种比打绳结好用许多的文字——甲骨文，刻在龟壳或兽骨上的象形文字。穿越回现代，尽管创造了比甲骨文更简便的文字，我们还是没有忘记中国最早的文字。瞧，G4的同学们现在就正走近远古的甲骨文！

“什么？竟然是这个字！”

“哇，真的很像哎！”

“咦，古代时这个字竟然是这个含义？”

G4同学们把他们的所见所闻密密麻麻地“刻”到各自的龟壳上。甲骨文字实在太多了，同学们只好依依不舍地选择自己最爱的放到龟壳正面，而“候选文字”只能争先恐后地挤到龟壳反面。

终于，“候选文字”们也没有了，老师抓起一把“甲骨文简体字好朋友”纸条，把“好朋友”打散并分发给同学们。大家立马挥舞起纸条，几分钟的忙乱后，出现了第一声“啊！就是你！”随后，配对成功的兴奋喊声接连出现，不过有些同学还在茫然地对比着手中的纸条。“不是这个......”“像吗？”“有可能吧......”

老师拍拍手，开始揭晓答案。一对接一对“好朋友”上台重逢，有的惊讶、有的喜悦......大家纷纷找到了自己的小伙伴，有些在龟壳上又“刻”下一个新认识的字。其实对比甲骨文和简体字，会发现许多共通之处。因为甲骨文就是中国文字的祖先，古人智慧的结晶，奠定了现代文字的结构基础，对华夏文明的绵延影响深远。

最后，老师告诉G4的同学们成功破译一个甲骨文字可以领十万元呢！教室里马上充满了诧异的叫声，有同学表示不信要回家去查......老师只是笑笑，说：“这就是所谓的‘一字千金’吧！”

At the end of the Shang Dynasty, the Chinese invented a way of writing much simpler than rope knots – “oracle bone script”. Even now, when we have created an alphabet easier to write with than oracle bone script, we still remember this earliest writing. Look, G4 is exploring this ancient script!

“What? It’s this character?”

“Wow, it’s really similar!”

“The character meant this in the old times?”

The G4 students “carve” their findings on the turtle shells, “carving” it so densely that there was no space even to write a name! Still too many characters were left though, the students had to reluctantly pick their favorite ones first. The “candidate characters” were fighting to get on the back of the turtle shells, as the front were too crowded.  

Finally, there were no more “candidates”. The teacher grabbed a handful of paper slips, which were “Bone Script and Simplified Chinese Friends”, and passed them out randomly. Immediately, the students waved their slips and yelled loudly, looking for their “friend”. After a few minutes of absolute chaos, the first shout of “Yes! I found you!” came out. Then more jubilant shouts followed, while some students were still comparing slips, confused. “Not this one...” “Do they look alike?” “Maybe...” Some students actually met their “friend”, but didn’t realize it!

The teacher clapped her hands and revealed the pairs. One by one, the “friends” walked on stage to “reunite”. Some looked surprised, some looked triumphant... The students all found their friends, while some even jotted down another new note. 

Lastly, the teacher told the students that successfully interpreting a new oracle bone script character could earn you RMB100, 000! Gasps of amazement filled the classroom. Some students didn’t even believe it, saying that they’d go home and double check!

The teacher only smiled and said, “this is probably what they call ‘one word is worth a thousand pieces of gold’.”

When comparing modern characters to oracle bone script, we see that they have many similarities. Oracle bone script is the ancestor of Chinese characters, laying the foundation for our modern language. This ancient wisdom’s creation made the long-lasting influence over Chinese culture.
