这是耶鲁大学校长Peter Salovey向2021届新生提出的问题，相信这也是当下，我们都在思考的问题。在改变社会，影响世界之前，我们都须先学会先拥抱挑战、并提升自我、做出改变。

辛丑初秋，万象更新时，我们迎来了充满挑战与希望的新学期。而在开学之前，NACIS全体教职员工老师亦做好了全面的准备，以确保学生在更健康安全的环境中滋养成长，获得更优质的教育服务。

为进一步提高我校教师教育教学能力，打造专业素质过硬、教学成绩瞩目的优秀教师团队，我校开展了一系列的教师培训讲座。

为期近两周，每天7小时的百名中外教师高强度集训，主题内容涵盖课程设置、课堂教学法、学术评估报告、跨学科融合及拓展课程等各个方面，在充分学习交流的基础上，教师们对上海诺德安达课程体系与教学节奏有了更全面的了解、专业能力得到了进一步提升。

ECA活动优化

ECA OPTIMIZATION

在日常的教与学准备工作之上，NACIS也在积极响应政府对学校延时服务的要求，在以往NACIS独特的ECA活动基础上，探索５＋２的新模式，增加学校的服务内容，以提升所有NACIS大家庭的整体满意度。

自本学期开始，NACIS中小学将优化ECA管理机制，根据不同年龄段的学习需求进行区分管理，从而迈向高质量的提升。

在ECA活动内容的设置上，中小学部进行了新一轮的调整与优化：中学部ECA活动将与学科进行紧密地关联，并鼓励学生参与到不同类别的学习挑战中，帮助他们从不同的维度获得学术及综合能力的提升。小学部也将通过ECA的形式探索面向未来的教育实施路径，从主题式学习、跨学科融合、传统特色主题活动等方面，全面提升学生核心素养，激发他们自主探索学习的内驱力。

建立一所以全人教育为目标的学校意味着教育的边界将超越传统的课堂。我们希望学生在上海诺德安达的所见、所闻和所感都能带给他们最积极的影响和提升。

新学期NACIS德育工作将会继续以关注孩子生命成长为主线，细化落实学生的行为规范，跟进奖惩机制，并有效推进学生心理成长建设，为孩子们的身心健康发展助力。

手机管理条例

MOBILE PHONE MANAGEMENT

为保障学生在校期间的有效学习时间，防止学生沉迷网络，NACIS积极响应根据教育部办公厅《关于加强中小学生手机管理工作的通知》，并细化管理措施，将手机管理纳入学校日常管理措施。其中，明确手机统一保管场所，方式，责任人，提供必要管理装置。开学当天，各年级组长向学生再次重申手机管理的新政策，明确要求及惩处后果。

严谨规律的寄宿生活

WELCOME TO BOARDING 

寄宿部门也在新学期伊始迎来了新同学的加入，为了帮助他们更快融入“第二个家”，寄宿部门开展了迎新活动，并向新同学及家长分发了寄宿部门手册，其中包括一日作息安排及行为规范守则。

在8小时的学习之外，我们用３－４小时的课余活动及晚自习辅导帮助学生进一步夯实在NACIS的学习体验：寄宿部门向学生开放了学校的舞蹈室、音乐练习室、跑道、操场和体育馆等设施来丰富学生的课余生活，方便学生社团活动的进行；寄宿楼内的乒乓球室、阅读室和艺术室，苹果台式电脑也同时供寄宿生学习锻炼使用。

在这里，专业的导师及工作人员随时待命，督促学生严格遵守寄宿部行为规范，为他们成长的每一步提供坚强的后盾。严谨、规律的学习生活，将帮助他们树立自立、自律的软实力，并从容过渡到大学的生活。

模范生奖励机制

MODEL STUDENT AWARD

在本周中学部第一次集会中，各年级围绕品德养成制定了奖励机制。除去对于学业的要求之外，中学部将会以“素养”为核心，进行每月模范学生奖项评选，本月评选标准是open-minded，鼓励学生用开放审视的思维来欣赏不同的文化。

"When the world is on fire, what is the significance for young people to study knowledge?"

This is the question asked to the class of 2021 by the President of Yale University, Peter Salovey -when the world is in a "sea of fire", what is the meaning for young people to study knowledge? We believe this is also a problem we are all thinking about at the moment. We must learn to embrace challenges, improve ourselves, and make changes before we can change the society and world.

As everything looks fresh in the early autumn, we usher in a new semester full of challenges and hopes. Before the start of new academic year, all NACIS staff made comprehensive preparations to ensure that students could grow in a healthier and safer environment and receive better education services.

PROFESSIONAL TRAINING

In order to improve the teaching ability and build an outstanding teaching team with excellent professional quality and teaching results, we carried out a series of training lectures. Nearly one hundred national and international teachers were intensively trained for two weeks, 7 hours a day. The topics cover curriculum settings, teaching methods, academic evaluation reports, interdisciplinary integration, and extended courses. Based on learning and exchanges, our teachers could have a clear understanding of the complete course system and teaching rhythm.

ECA活动优化

ECA OPTIMIZATION

In addition to daily teaching and learning preparations, we are exploring a new model of 5+2 based on our unique ECA program and increasing the service items to improve the overall satisfaction of NACIS family.

Since the beginning of the semester, NACIS primary and secondary have been optimizing the ECA management mechanism and conducting differentiated management based on the learning needs of different age groups, so as to make high-quality improvement. In the ECA setting, the primary and secondary has carried out a new round of adjustment and optimization. The secondary ECAs will be closely related to subjects. Students will be encouraged to participate in different types of learning challenges and improve their academic and comprehensive ability from different dimensions. The primary has been also exploring the future-oriented education path through ECAs, so as to improve key competencies of students in terms of subject-based learning, interdisciplinary integration, and traditional thematic activities, and stimulate their internal drive for independent exploration and learning.

MORAL EDUCATION

As a school with the goal of holistic education, our education will go beyond the traditional classroom. We hope that what students see, hear and feel at NACIS will make the most positive influence and improvement on themselves. In the new semester, our moral education will continue to focus on children's life growth, refine students' behavioral norms, follow up the reward and punishment mechanism, and effectively promote students' psychological growth, and contribute to their physical and mental health.

MOBILE PHONE MANAGEMENT

In order to ensure the effective learning time and prevent students from indulging on the Internet, NACIS refines management measures and incorporates mobile phone management into daily management measures based on the "Notice on Strengthening the Mobile Phone Management for Primary and Secondary Students" issued by the General Office of the Ministry of Education. We clarify the unified storage location, method, and responsible person, and provide the necessary management devices. As the new semester begins, the grade leaders have reiterated the updated mobile phone management policy and clarified the requirements and consequences.

严谨规律的寄宿生活

WELCOME TO BOARDING 

Our boarding department also welcomed new students at the beginning of the new semester. In order to help boarding students settle into the "second home" more quickly, the boarding department launched an orientation activity and distributed boarding manuals to new students and parents, including daily schedule and code of conduct. 

In addition to the eight-hour learning, we improve their learning experience at NACIS through 3 or 4 hours of extracurricular activities and evening self-study tutoring. Our boarding students can access dance studio, music room, playground and gymnasium and other facilities after school to launch their club activities. There are table tennis rooms, reading rooms and art rooms, as well as the Apple desktop computers in the dormitory building. Our professional tutors and staff are always ready for supervising students to abide by the boarding code of conduct and providing a strong backing for students. A rigorous and regular study and life will help them build up the soft power of self-reliance and self-discipline and transfer to university life smoothly.

In the secondary assembly this week, each grade developed a reward mechanism around moral quality development. In addition to academic requirements, the secondary will select monthly model student based on “qualities”. The selection criterion is “open-minded” for this month, aiming to encourage students to appreciate different cultures with an open mind.
