ECE Meet the Teachers Event

幼儿部教师见面会

On Thursday, the 2nd of September, the ECE Division hosted an online event for families to meet their ECE teachers. Our teachers were excited and determined to meet and see their student's parents.

我校幼儿部在9月2日举行了线上教师见面会，老师们怀着期待的心情和家长们见面啦！

The ECE department prioritizes their relationships with their students and parents equally. During our meeting, the teacher event parents learned more about the classroom routines and general classroom ecology. It is essential to know how our students organize themselves in our classroom. Parents can support their children by ensuring they pack the right things in their backpacks and reinforce our school's social and emotional development program. Parents were also encouraged to read books with their children every night before bed.

一直以来，幼儿部非常注重与学生家长的沟通交流，通过举办教师见面活动帮助家长更直观、更深入地了解学校的课室环境及管理。学生的成长离不开家长的支持与爱护，家长不仅协助学生做好上学准备，同时也大力支持学校的德育教育及睡前阅读倡议。

Club Fair

On Wednesday, 8th September 2021 in the MPR, BIGZ held a spectacular Club Fair led by our fantastic Teachers and Students from Grades 8-12 in the MPR. This year we had over 30 different Student-Led clubs at the fair for students to join, from Rugby Club to Speech and Debate. Students had a good time seeing what was on offer and trying out different activities. The club fair was open to middle and upper school students. 

在老师们与8-12年级学生们的精心策划下，我校于9月8日在多功能厅举办了2021-2022学年度的俱乐部集会。本学年的俱乐部活动依旧精彩纷呈，由学生主导的俱乐部共计超过三十个，包括橄榄球俱乐部、演讲与辩论俱乐部等，学生们在集会上可尽请咨询及体验各项活动。

       

The Club Fair was organized to give students a taste of what to expect from clubs across the school, focusing on bringing maximum participation within our afterschool co-curricular activities. We want to develop the hobbies and talents of our students outside of their academic studies. The clubs will help students with their time management skills and leadership responsibilities, and most importantly, clubs will help them have fun and relax.

举办俱乐部集会是为了让学生更好地了解学校丰富的俱乐部活动，最大程度激发他们的参与积极性，帮助他们挖掘课堂之外的兴趣与才能。学生可以通过俱乐部活动提升时间管理能力及领导力，做到寓学于乐。

   

For more information about clubs led by teachers, outside organizations, and students, parents will receive a link outlining all the clubs open across the grade levels from PreK2 to G12. Many of the clubs will be linked to competitions outside of school. Our club program will begin the week commencing Monday 11th October 2021. 

我校俱乐部涵盖了老师主办、学生主办以及校外机构主办三大类型，横跨PK2到12年级，当中的很多俱乐部活动也与校外比赛相关，家长们可通过学校提供的链接了解详情。本学年俱乐部自2021年10月11日起陆续开课。

 

Cell’s Song

Mr. Sam Warne

Last school year Mr. Warne, who has a background in music as well as biology, covered grade 5 science whilst the lovely Sarah Mueller led the class from abroad.

上个学年，Mr. Warne和Ms. Sarah Mueller共同负责五年级的科学课程。Ms. Sarah在线上给予孩子们悉心指导，Mr. Warne则在线下不遗余力地帮助学生消化学到的知识。

As a grade 5 music teacher at the time, Mr. Warne saw an opportunity for some musical collaboration. He wrote a song about cellular biology to help the students with their science study and the song was also something that they could play on the ukulele, which they had all learned that year.

Mr. Warne精通生物和音乐，因此也担任五年级的音乐老师。在教学过程中他发现音乐和科学有很多相通之处，于是他写了一首关于细胞生物学的歌曲，创造性地将科学知识用音乐表达出来，帮助学生更好地学习科学课程。恰好，当时学生在音乐课上学过尤克里里，而这首歌正是可以用尤克里里演奏。

Rocky Jia from grade 5 used computer software called “Blender”, to create a fantastic animated music video for the song. With guidance from Mr. Warne, Rocky expertly crafted the different organelles in eukaryotic cells which show the various processes that happen at the cellular level.

五年级的Rocky Jia用 “Blender”软件为这首歌制作了精彩的动画视频。在Mr. Warne的指导下，Rocky熟练地制作了真核细胞中的不同细胞器，显示了细胞层面上发生的各种变化。

He also timed the transitions to the different sections of the song to create this incredibly engaging learning content. After watching, you might find yourself remembering the vocabulary without any effort at all!

Rocky还为视频设计了过渡转场效果，增加了趣味性，使得科学学习不再枯燥。看了这个视频后，你可能会发现自己不费吹灰之力就记住了这些科学知识！

Fun-Day Friday

Congratulations to our Early Childhood Learners! What a week they have had, developing nurturing relationships with their teachers, creating classroom friendships, and exploring a new learning environment.

祝贺幼儿部的小朋友们度过了美好、充实的一周：与老师建立了良好的关系，在教室里结交了新朋友，探索并适应了新的学习环境！

To celebrate such an achievement, our ECE children had their first 'Fun-Day Friday.'

为了庆祝这一成绩，我们为孩子们准备了首个“欢乐星期五”活动。

                 

'Fun-Day Friday' is a weekly event for our BIGZ ECE students. This event celebrates our students' cognitive development over the week and gives students time to explore all sorts of concepts. Students have multiple opportunities to learn through play and play freely. Free play is an essential component of children's development. Through play, children can be creative, imaginative and understand their environment and their role in it. 

“欢乐星期五”是幼儿部学生每周的固定活动，旨在庆祝学生在过去一周所取得的进步，同时也给予学生时间去探索各种知识概念。学生可以通过游戏来学习，在玩中学，在学中玩。释放天性、快乐学习是儿童心智发展的重要一环。通过游戏，孩子们的创造力、想象力得到了激发，同时也能更好地了解他们所处的环境及角色。

 

World Scholar’s Cup

--从“世界学者杯”赛场上载誉归来

The World Scholar’s Cup 2021 was held in Shanghai during the summer vacation. Our 6th graders Jason Zhu, Tinson Chen and Rocky Jia stood out among the contestants, winning 4 trophies, 12 gold medals and 10 silver medals.

暑假期间，2021年世界学者杯在上海落下帷幕。我校六年级的小凤凰Jason Zhu、Tinson Chen和Rocky Jia与各地的学生同台竞技并取得出色的成绩，包括4个奖杯、12个金牌和10个银牌。

At the award ceremony, the hall echoed the name of BASIS International School Guangzhou. Our students were very proud of winning great honor for the school.

在颁奖典礼上，广州贝赛思国际学校的名称多次响亮地回荡在颁奖大厅，能为学校争得荣誉，学生们也是非常自豪。

Nearly a thousand students across China participated in this competition, and our students performed well by leveraging their knowledge, creativity and teamwork. Congratulations!

此次比赛共有来自全国多所学校近千名优秀选手参与了角逐，竞争十分激烈，三位同学凭着丰富的知识储备以及较强的创新与思辨、团队合作等能力取得佳绩，恭喜他们！
