进入新学期,四、五年级的同学们面临着全新的转变和挑战。好的开始是成功的一半,为了帮助同学们成为更加独立的学习者和思考者,学校开展了一系列的适应性训练和安全教育。

As we enter a new semester, students in grades 4 and 5 face a whole new set of transitions and challenges. As the saying goes, a good start is half the battle. To help students become more independent learners and thinkers, the school has launched a series of habilitation and safety education for children.  

营造校园安全氛围

Create a Safe School Climate

校园安全是一切教学和活动的基石。我们利用晨会课和个人成长课展开了一系列安全教育活动。四、五年级的同学们也将他们的所学所感录制成了一则安全短片,来提醒更多的同学重视校园安全。

Safety is the cornerstone of all activities at school. To ensure school safety, a series of safety education sessions have been conducted during morning assemblies and personal growth classes. To demonstrate their understanding, the 4th and 5th graders also recorded a safety video of what they learned and felt to remind more students about campus safety.

今年,四、五学段的教学楼和教学地点发生了不小的变化。八月三十一日的返校日上,老师带领同学们熟悉和适应新的教学楼,包括知晓图书室、饮水机、教师办公室、洗手间的位置以及从大门进入教室最便捷的路线。崭新的图书室让同学们兴奋不已。午休时,同学们也可以带着自己的图书卡进入图书室借阅书籍,享受安静的阅读时光。

     

This year, the building and location of the 4th and 5th grades have undergone changes. At the Back-to-School Day on August 31, teachers took the students through the new building and showed them where the library, water fountain, teachers’ offices, and restrooms are located and the easiest way to get to the classrooms from the front door. The students were excited to see the brand-new library at the Zhongxing Building. During the lunch break, they can bring their library cards to enter the library to check out books and enjoy a quiet reading time.

“紧急逃生演习”也是安全教育的重要组成部分。9月23日,同学们在个人成长课上预先熟悉了紧急逃生门的位置、逃生线路和逃生注意事项,并在正式演练时做到了安全、有序、快捷地离开教学楼。到达集合地点后,各班主任立即清点人数,报告校长。通过此次演练,同学们再一次巩固了逃生的技能和方法,并在演习后进行反思以追求更好的表现。今后,学校也将继续组织类似的演练活动,确保灾难真正降临时各部门能有条不紊地实施逃生工作、同学们能井然有序地开展自救,保障所有在校人员的生命安全!

     

Emergency drills play a crucial role in school safety education. On September 23, the children were familiarized with the location of the emergency escape doors, escape routes, and escape precautions during the personal growth class, so that they could leave the building in a safe, orderly, and quick manner during the official drill. After arriving at the gathering place, each homeroom teacher immediately counted the number of people and reported to the principal. Through this drill, the students once again consolidated their escape skills and methods and reflected after the drill for   better performance. The school will continue to conduct emergency drills to ensure that all students and staff can safely evacuate the buildings and protect themselves and others when disasters really strike!

共创学习型社区

Create a Positive Learning Environment

除了日常的学习,四、五学段的老师们利用午休时间开展了一系列丰富有趣的午间社团来丰富同学们的校园生活。午间社团既有优美动听的阿卡贝拉无伴奏合唱团、充满挑战的英语俱乐部,还有放松休闲的心理俱乐部。这些社团活动帮助孩子们劳逸结合,更好地享受每天的校园生活。

 

对于教室里的环境建设,每一间教室都有自己独特的创意,而四、五年级作为一个大集体,同学们也在通过自己的努力共建一个学习型社区。新学期伊始,老师和同学们一起讨论出了六件同学们在日常校园生活中可以完成的小事,比如:整理好自己桌上和柜子里的东西,保持教室的整洁,并且每件事在每个班由一位负责人来确保该项工作的落实。这一举措让同学们掌握了班级管理的自主权,也在潜移默化中培养了他们独立自主的学习生活能力。

To enrich the students’ school life, the teachers of the 4th and 5th grades use the lunch break to conduct various interesting lunch clubs. The lunchtime clubs comprise a beautiful a cappella group, a challenging English Club, and a relaxing Psychology Club. These club activities help the children to combine work and play, to better enjoy their daily school life.

Each classroom has its unique ideas for building the environment in the classroom, and as a large group, students in grades 4 and 5 have been working together to build a learning community. At the beginning of the new school year, teachers and children discussed six small things that students could accomplish in their daily school life, such as organizing the things on their desks and in their lockers, keeping their classrooms tidy, and having a leader in each class to ensure the task is carried out. This initiative allows students to take ownership of classroom management and subtly develops their independent learning skills.

制定新学期目标

Set Goals for the New Semester

播种一颗种子,不断浇灌它,它就会慢慢发芽长大成一棵参天大树。孩子的梦想就犹如这颗种子,需要细心呵护。在新学期开始,我们鼓励同学们为自己设定这一学期需要实现的短期目标,明确努力方向,不断成为最好的自己。在第二周的个人成长课上,老师们通过不同的有趣的方法带领同学们用“SMART”原则制定了新学期目标。同学们制定的目标中,有关于学习和自我成长的,也有关于如何为实现学习型社区作贡献的思考。老师们欣喜地看到每个孩子都为自己“量身定制”了一些通过自身努力后可以实现的目标。在接下来的日子里,老师们会继续帮助同学们一起朝着设置的目标努力,早日使心中的种子长成参天大树。

     

Sow a seed, keep watering it, and it will slowly sprout and grow into a big tree. A child’s dream is like a little seed, which needs to be taken care of carefully. At the beginning of the new semester, we encourage our students to set short-term goals for themselves, to help them have a clearer direction to work towards and become the best version of themselves. During the personal growth class in the second week, the teachers led the children to set goals for the new semester using the “SMART” principle in different, interesting ways. Some students set goals for learning, others set goals for self-growth, and some were thinking about how they could contribute to the learning community. The teachers were pleased to see that each child had “customized” some goals for themselves that they could achieve through their own efforts. In the days to come, the teachers will continue to help the children work together towards their goals so that the seeds in their hearts will grow into a big tree soon.

为共建学习社区,学校接下来会继续开展丰富、有效的活动。我们希望四五年级的同学通过主动承担责任,积极参与活动成为更加独立自主的学习者。

We hope that the fourth and fifth graders will become more independent learners by taking responsibility and actively participating in activities.
