北亚利桑那大学（简称NAU）是一所四年制综合性公立大学，成立于1899年，获《美国新闻与世界报道》评为四级国家级大学，学术声誉全美排第210名。
该校教育的重心是大学教育，也提供研究性的教育，采取小班授课的方式进行教育。它提供高质量的教育，能给学生最大限度的关注。该大学下设的7所学院为：工程及自然科学学院、文学艺术学院、职业教育学院、教育学院、社会和行为科学学院、商学院、研究生院。学校能够提供100个学士学位、48个硕士学位和9个博士学位，75%本科生课程都是由教授上课。

IB

IB即是国际文凭组织IBO（International Baccalaureate Organisation)为全球学生开设的高中课程，同时也是大学预科课程，学制两年，授课语言为英语，主要目的是让学生接受国际教育，为将来在世界著名大学深造打下基础。

国际文凭组织IBO（International Baccalaureate Organisation)正式成立于1967年，总部设在瑞士日内瓦，课程与考试中心在英国卡地夫，初衷是服务于国际学校，方便流动于国际间的家庭子女入学。目前有55个国家和500多所学校同步教授IB课程，学生在IB体系中修读相同的教材，学生毕业时参加全球统一考试，试卷的命题及批阅均由IB总部直接统筹规划，全世界的IB学生学术水平因此得以统一，毕业文凭亦被公认为全球最高水平，著名学府如牛津、剑桥、耶鲁、普林斯顿及哈佛等均给予毕业生诸多入学优惠。

由于IBO先进的教学宗旨和教学思想，吸引了世界各国一大批致力于国际化教育的专家、学者，组成了IBO强大的教研机构――IB课程设置及考试委员会。除了注重基础知识的教学，IB教研机构尤其注重学生素质和能力的培养，以及学生兴趣的发展，其教学大纲五年更换一次，知识更新极为迅速。

华东师范大学教授，著名教育理论家钟启泉老先生在《课程设计基础》一书中对国际文凭的课程体系给予了高度评价，文章中这样写道：“国际中学文凭课程（International Baccalaureate Curriculum，简称IB课程）以它领先的教育思想和独特的课程结构，正日渐引起世人的瞩目。它的思想和实践也开始超越‘国际学校’的范围，步入世界各地一些富有创新意识和兼容并蓄精神的普通高级中学。”钟老先生盛赞IB课程是一种类似“水仙花”的结构模型，充分反映了IB课程结构的和谐美，“这一课程设计为克服普通中等教育中科目林立、将知识割裂的支离破碎的弊端，做出了重大尝试，是现有的其他中学课程体系所不及的。”

所有IB文凭项目学生必须在规定的六个学科组中每组选一门课程进行学习，其中至少三门是高等级。每门分数的最高分数为7分，加上拓展论文与知识论文的3分奖励分数，满分为45分。

第一组：语言A1与世界文学

第二组：语言B（母语以外的现代语）

第三组：个人与社会学（历史、地理、经济学、哲学、心理学等）

第四组：实验科学（物理、化学、生物、设计、环境系统等）

第五组：数学（数学高等级、高等数学标准等级、数学研究、数学法）

第六组：艺术与选修（美术设计、音乐、戏剧艺术等，或第三种现代语，或从第三组、第四组中再选一科，或高等数学标准等级）

想获取IB文凭的学生还必须学习TOK（知识理论）和EE（拓展论文），并有合格的CAS活动（创造、行动与服务）。这三门核心课程是IBO文凭项目课程设置独特性的集中体现。知识理论课（简称TOK）是一门必修的跨学科课程，目的是培养学生的判断与综合归纳能力，鼓励学生对基础知识进行质疑，防止主观臆断和思想意识上的偏见，增强学生以理性基础进行分析和表达的能力。“拓展论文”要求学生结合所学课程中的某一知识点进行独立的调研，要能写出4000字的文章。这项要求为学生提供了按自己兴趣写作论文的机会，并使学生熟悉独立研究的方法，锻炼写作技巧。CAS代表创造、行动与服务，鼓励学生进行创新，提高艺术修养，进行坚持不懈的锻炼，关心他人，发挥与别人合作的精神。当学生超越了自我和课本上的知识后，他们就能获得全面的发展，成为具有完整公民意识的人。

世界各国（地区）对IB文凭的承认

澳洲全国各州所有大学和专业学院都承认IB为一个优良的入学资格。由于实质上IB的学术水平比本土中学课程为高，各院校都非常欢迎IB学生申请入学，有些院校甚至在学生尚未毕业前便给予优先录取。也有些院校则减免IB学生在大学一年级里所需修读的部分科目。IB课程在各大专院校都受到极为高度的评价。

美国及加拿大数以千计的大学都视IB文凭为优良的入学资历。著名学府如佛、耶鲁及普林斯顿等一级长春藤系列的大学甚至容许成绩优异的IB学生（三科主修科目均达到6或7分者）直接进校修读大学二年级课程，无需修读大一课程。此外，大部分大学都给个别科目成绩优良的学生予以学分减免，从而缩短了学生大学修业时间和费用。

英国的情况与美加地区差不多，所有大学都接受IB文凭。牛津、剑桥等世界一流大学也都很欢迎IB学生申请入学。伦敦大学附设医学院的最低孙取分仅需32分，高达百分之四十的IB 考生放榜成绩达到32分以上。故考生若无法达到澳洲医学院所要求的36分时，可转而申请分数较低的英国各名校，成为医学院的学生。

香港每所大学均给予IB毕业生相等于香港中七学生的待遇，认为IB的水平和香港预料相等，学生可以直接以IB文凭申请入学。

IB是一个极具水平的世界通用预科文凭，拿着IB Diploma 的学生无论在世界任何地方升学进修，都是无往不利的。
