记上海星河湾双语学校G5及G6英语演讲比赛，12月16日，5、6年级举行了一场别具一格的居家英语演讲比赛。这次比赛采用录制视频、线上评审的方式，参与选手有21人。本着公平、公正的原则，这次比赛请来了7、8、9年级的老师担任评委，Ms. Joanna则担任总体的统筹工作。

首先，两位主持人——5-4班的缪曼同学和6-4班的张瑞麒为我们进行开场致辞。

随后，同学们依次进行了慷慨激昂的演讲：5-5班的罗东楠Lucas同学有理有据地表达了自己对网络世界种种不安全因素的担忧，令人眼前一亮；

5-7班的潘嘉仪Bonnie同学表示不支持线上学习，一一列举了线上学习的缺点，引人深思。

其他选手们也不甘示弱，纷纷奉上了精彩的表现，令人目不暇接。虽然是居家录制视频，但是选手们仍然热情高涨，把家里有限的空间利用到了极致，对镜演讲时就仿佛面对满堂观众，抑扬顿挫，绘声绘色。多位小选手们在以往的比赛中磨练出了精湛的技巧和过人的心理素质，演讲效果令人叹服。

同样，居家观看比赛的同学们也热情不减，十分投入，甚至有学生边听边做笔记。终于，一场又一场演讲结束后，比赛圆满地落下了帷幕。虽然此次比赛只能在家举行，但是同学们并未气馁，而是积极地准备、参与比赛，秀出了风采。相信从这次经历中，我们都领会到坚持的重要性，都收获了一份别样的精彩与感动。

On December 16th of 2022, a breathtaking contest began. Even though the 21 contestants couldn’t go to the auditorium and make their speeches, they stayed at home and took a video of their fabulous speech. Classmates of the contestants were devoid of a chance to cheer and chant together while they were competing. However, even with the form of online class, the excited classmates still congratulated the contestants from the bottom of their heart.

The speeches were amazing; the contestants spoke with passion. They used hand gestures and a clear voice to illustrate their points. Each speech made was yet another treat that was tremendously enjoyed by the students of Grade 5 and Grade 6. Some speeches were serious and firm, while others were more opinion-based and persuasive. However, no matter which kind of speech was made, each one was excellent. The speeches included morals that were so helpful and enlightening to our daily life. The contestants used enthusiatically polished words and kept an amiable facial expression throughout the speech.

The hosts of the speech contest were Megan from Class 5-4 and Ricky from Class 6-4, the former explaining how the speeches were marked. The total score was 100 points. There were 50 points on the content, 30 points on the pace and tone, and 20 points on body language.

Each contestant thanked the judges before the end of their videos. We could see from the expectant looks on their faces and, for some of the contestants, the long-awaited tension, that they were really inquisitive about their results.

At last, after wondering and hoping, the 21 contestants were finally able to see their results. Here are the results:

First prize: Issac from Class 5-6

Second prize: Bonnie from Class 5-7; Abigail from Class 6-6

Third prize: Robin from Class 6-5; Alice from Class 5-1; Alice from Class 6-6

Outstanding speaker: Terry from Class 5-2; Mia from Class 6-3

Felicitate now, for all the contestants had won a prize for themselves that they should be proud of. All the students and teachers in Grade 5 and Grade 6 thanked the contestants for their wonderful speeches. Let us hope that more fabulous speeches are waiting for us next year!
