一年一度上海市民办复旦万科实验学校C班科技节又到来了,今年科学展再次吸引了学生们的广泛参与。本次科技节中,火箭、摩托艇和玩具车掀起了热潮。很高兴看到选手们自觉地投入创作,随着年级升高,C班科技节依然对学生富有吸引力。
Science Fair fever returned to Fudan Vanke C-Ban in full force this month, with the sound of flying rockets, motorized boats, and speeding toy cars permeating the air. Once again it was a joy to see participants practicing so enthusiastically in the days leading up to the event, as it was to see them deliver their findings with such relish and gusto on the afternoon itself. It is always heartwarming for teachers when so many students raise their hands for what is essentially a voluntary event; there is no requirement for students to do so much additional research and experimentation if they do not want to. Clearly, Science Fair has lost none of its appeal to them as they have advanced to the latter grades of primary school.
作品展览
今年选手们的任务更加具有挑战性了,因为每年的科技节都重视原创与创新精神。从评委的角度而言,挑选出那些能严格使用科学探究手段、具有独特研究视角及展示过程精彩纷呈的获奖者也是一项挑战。
The task facing participants grows more difficult each time, to deliver originality and innovation year on year. For judges too, choosing winners from such a diverse array of projects is challenging, as each group brings their own individual viewpoints and areas of interest. At times it can feel like comparing apples and oranges, but ultimately the students that receive prizes are the ones that give an engaging presentation while demonstrating their rigorous use of the scientific method to make a unique finding or provide a different perspective on existing experiments.
非选手的那些同学在科技展示中充当观众,并对选手进行提问等互动。同学们积极做笔记,形成了相互欣赏、共同学习的友好的氛围。
The task for non-participants is, on the contrary, much easier – to ask questions and enjoy! Teachers reiterated the importance of making notes about projects viewed to demonstrate acquired knowledge while being sure to make specific compliments to raise the confidence and self-esteem of their peers and build an atmosphere of mutual appreciation, shared learning, and kindness.
